As I sit here with my first cup of coffee of the day, I’d like to dedicate it to our beloved izzarina… who, bless her, has remained coffee-free since the first day of Lent. Woman, this brew’s for you!! And a very happy Un-Birthday as well!!
And, riding on the coattails of TomB’s request, I too have been looking for steady full-time work. I have an interview this morning and would be ever-so grateful for any mojo you could send my way… to my highest good, of course.
Have a happy day, peeps!
edited to correct a typo that certainly wouldn’t have impressed any employers!
Try to think of a good answer for the interviewer’s query, “Tell me something about your life.” That is the kind of question that I always have trouble with, like what to include and what to leave out. Don’t tell them that you hope to be able to play your whistle at work, during break times, of course.
Thank you for that dedication…I can almost taste the coffee!
And you’re going to be great, ad. Just be you, and you’re sure to get it! Almost 9am here…more thoughts and prayers going your way!
Thanks everyone, it must have worked-- they called me back the minute I walked in the door to come back for a second interview. The job is a little different than what I expected, so I’m not sure what to do… but I definitely appreciate all those good vibes!!
Congrats on getting the 2nd interview…you’ve made it past the initial weeding out phase. Good luck on the followup!
I always tell them I play the whistle. I use it as a sales pitch, relating it to my job. Something along the lines of “Well, I’ve always been drawn to artistic pursuits. For instance, I play the irish tinwhistle. I’ve played in a band, and practice about 15 hours a week. It takes a lot of hard work and dedication in order to make consistently good music. I guess it’s a lot like computer programming that way..”
Thanks, Greg… I’ve really got some mixed feelings about the job, but I figure all parties will know more about each other after this second interview, so I’m trying to keep an open mind. I also have that whole ‘beggers can’t be choosy’ thing running through my head too.
I one time interviewed for a position in a state (that I would rather not name, but really didn’t want to live there!) and when I got home, I said to the boys, “Well, I know I really need a job, but I really kind of hope they don’t call me!”
I guess the feeling was mutual! heehee
Good luck and hope everything turns out to your satisfaction!
