Jim's Whistle

Hello all,
It’s been a while since I’ve been around, ya know how it goes. Some of you may remember 12 months or so ago I was chasing some info on my old friend Jim’s Harola whistle. It was brought out here to Australia by his grandfather in the 1860’s and the general consensus was that it was a bespoke item that had been badged by Harola, who also sold banjo’s, squeezeboxes, saxophones and other instruments under that name.
Jim died last week, and I had the privilege of playing Si Beagh Si Mhor at his funeral on the Harola, as well as a vocal number with the guitar. It was a very moving experience, lots of emotion and tears from family and friends (I’m having a bit of a sniffle writing this).
The ability to play music is a gift that MUST be shared.
I like to think that Jim’s ancestors have welcomed him home.
Ian

Hmmmmmmmm… would this be it? Fascinating.
