Jeanne Freeman

Hello,

I originally posted this message on The Irish Traditional Forum where I saw an old review by “Cayden” of a Freeman-Ringrose-Whelan performance from 2014. Anyone own a copy of Jeanne Freeman’s rare CD, “The Fiddler You Are”? I attempted to contact Cayden who apparently has a copy, but his email is invalid. Anyone know how to contact Cayden? He doesn’t appear to have been active on any forums for several years. Email me: dawisner @yahoo.com. Thank you.

I think you have entered a metaphorical 'Twilight Zone! Some years ago now, during an upgrade and refurbishing of this Board’s software, there occured a ‘glitch’, where two user’s accounts were linked/merged. An account for a ‘false Cayden’ was created using posts from another users accounts. If I remember correctly, the mislabelled posts were actually made by Mr. Gumby. You might ask him directly. Also, perhaps one of the mods can help clear this up.

Good luck,
Bob

Ah yes, the False Cayden event, long faded from memory. We have no idea how it happened, and at our level of skills or lack thereof, there’s no fixing it.

Thanks, Bob and Nanoherron. I’ll give Mr. Gumby a try.

Best,

Steve

Hello,

This post is directed to Forum member “Mr. Gumby,” who I am not able to email. If you see this message, sir, please email me: dawisner@yahoo.com. This is in regards to Jeanne Freeman’s “The Fiddle You Are” CD.

Thank you.

You are now.

This is in regards to Jeanne Freeman’s “The Fiddle You Are” CD.

I have no knowledge about that. Nothing to do with me.

If you are looking to buy a copy of the CD, why not purchase it directly from her website at https://jeannefreemanmusic.com/product/93764?

WhistlingGuitar,

The CD is no longer available from Jeanne’s website. Thanks for checking in.

Steve

The CD is no longer available from Jeanne’s website.

Are you quite sure? I followed the link above and nowhere in the ordering process, right up to authorising payment, is there any indication the recording is not available.

I just tried, and right at the payment point, PayPal returns an invalid business error, so it does appear to be down.

To the OP, sorry if it’s obvious, but have you tried contacting Jeanne directly? In addition to the email form on her website, her phone number is listed here: https://ringroseandfreeman.com/contact-us.

To Mr. Gumby and WhistlingGuitar:

Thanks for looking into this for me. I initially attempted to order Jeanne’s CD through her website, but PayPal would not process the order. I contacted Jeanne in June and she stated:

Hi, thanks for your note and kind words, I am currently out of CDs, sorry! A good reminder that I should look at clarifying that on my website.
Best,
Jeanne

So it looks like I’m at a dead-end unless I can turn up the “Cayden” who reviewed the Freeman/Ringrose/Whelan performance back in 2014.

Steve

There were members moving in the same circles as ‘Cayden’, they may know more. ‘Ytliek’ attended the same comhaltas groups, I believe. Mind you, he hasn’t visited the forum since November but it may be worth a shot.

Others in the same area too, if you can locate them. One even sent me a PV O’Donnell cd long ago,.

Thanks for the suggestions, Mr. Gumby. I just sent Ytliek an email. I also contacted Jeanne Freeman again to see if I could persuade her to send me digital tracks from the CD. It’s a longshot since I realize she’s probably quite busy but worth a try.

Thanks again,

There comes a point where you just have to accept a recording, for whatever reason, is no longer available. The artist owes you nothing beyond the end of the CD’s lifecycle. Just bear that in mind.

Two weeks ago I was at the receiving end of queries by four or five different people regarding a CD unavailable for over fifteen years now.. This ranged from a gentle question, through a request for a freebie to a demand I put it on a download/streaming site (‘it’s not that hard, you know’). It gets old very quickly.

Good advice, Mr. Gumby. I always am polite when asking for music. Some musicians go out of their way to accommodate requests, others aren’t very helpful. I usually don’t get so fanatical over acquiring music. I don’t know what’s driving me on Jeanne’s CD as I have more music than I can possibly listen to.

Thanks again,

Steve
