Jean-Michel Veillon, one of the very best traditional Breton/Irish flute players is set to come to Oxford on 17th February to play a small acoustic solo flute gig. If you’ve not heard his playing before, stop what you’re doing and go and listen to it. If you have then you’ll know what a treat this is set to be.
And Tom tells me there will be an opportunity for a session after the gig - so take your toots! (I wish I could be there… )
I hope as many folk as can who are in reach will support this - J-M V is fantastic and you are guaranteed a great night - all flute players of any genre would enjoy and benefit from attending, as well as all lovers of Celtic Traditional music.
Also, Tom deserves every support for going out on a limb and doing his first ever gig promotion at short notice with no backing whatever - so please make the night a great success for him!
You are pretty damn lucky, Tom! I saw him briefly in the Eastern Townships last year in Quebec, amazing performance. A session would be super! On the other hand, I just saw Cillian Vallely and Ivan Goff in a session here last weekend
