Japanese Maples

Here is a photo of a couple of Japanese Maples that I grow. This photo was made in November of last year when these two cultivars, Acer palmatum ‘Edgewood’s Golden’ and Acer japonicum ‘O isami’, were showing good fall color.

What about that oddball one with pinnate leaves, Acer negundo?

I don’t suppose you have seedlings of any of those available…

Around here Acer negundo is considered a weak-wooded, weed tree. Truly a mess of a tree. There are some named cultivars that have some redeeming qualities, like ‘Flamingo’, a variegated form. I don’t think that it does well here in the south. I don’t think that the best Boxelder is as good as the worst Japanese Maple.

No seedlings. I use seedlings for under stock to graft onto. Those four cultivars were grafted onto Acer palmatum seedlings. Anyone into asexual propagation?
They’re about as pretty as a shiny new whistle. :smiley:

Here is Acer palmatum ‘Filigree’. This cascading dissectum forms a 2m x 3m rounded mound. The lacy leaves are a light green in spring, darkening as the season progresses. Overlaid upon this green leaf color are golden specks.
