Jammin' to Heart & Soul

We visited some friends this past weekend that we don’t get to see often enough. Their son is now in the second grade and has been playing the piano for 9 months. He’s good. I have never seen such little fingers play a piano and was amazed that his fingers even had the capacity. He had been waiting for us to visit because although he had played some of his piano music with his dad, who plays an acoustic bass, he was hoping we’d do something fun. We did. All you piano players know the Heart & Soul and Chopsticks duets, we did those in four parts. He did the lower paino keys, my wife the higher piano keys, his dad on acoustic bass, and me on fife. I wrote his notes on a post-it note to stick to the piano. He was quite pleased with his part in these songs because he was playing the “teacher’s” part. His teacher always plays the lowers keys when she & he play duets.

cool. Maybe if I’d participated in jams when I was a tike, I’da stuck with it, and got good when I had the brain for it?
Nah…I was the laziest kid ever.
I hope your friends’ kid knows better.
