This note is a couple of weeks overdue, but I wanted to express thanks to James Clark for organizing and Bruce Childress for conducting the uillean pipe workshop at the Celticfest in Jackson, MS on Sept 6-8. About 15 mostly novice pipers participated in the workshop.
I've been "playing at" the uilleann pipes only about 8 months now, and this was my first opportunity ever to hear them played live. WOW! Bruce was exceedingly patient and generous with his time and knowledge, and spent hours helping lots of us tune and otherwise "adjust" our instruments, most of which were not of his manufacture.
I encourage others in the mid-south or southeast US to plan to participate next year.
