Ivan Goff ... F1 player.

I just come back from the Festival international celtique-acadien-louisianais in Lasalle Montréal. http://acadieenfete.ca/Bienvenue.html

What a delight … Chris Norman Ensemble show (and workshop with Mr Norman), Paddy Keenan and … Eileen Ivers!

What a show! Big big … maybe too big for some … but definetly jaw fallin… and I just discoverd Ivan Goff, her flute and uilleen pipes player.

I honestly didn’t think it was possible to play this fast with such precision and for this long on the flute.

I had a nice chat with him after the show and he’s a really nice man.

He plays on a Seth Gallagher blackwood flute wich, after a try, is a delight of easiness to play. He tried my Hamilton and … bursted such a sound out of it… and reminded me I have to work on the embouchure! And he plays with the fingers almost not moving. Probably a must do to play this fast!

Well…just wanted to share this with you!

Never, but really, never miss Eilleen Ivers if she comes close to you!

Leo

PS Chris Norman was really impressive too! Such nice tunes … and such nice, smooth playing. And really nice man to speak with!

I saw the Eileen Ivers band last summer at Irish Arts Week, and enjoyed them. I’m going to be taking a pipes class from Ivan Goff this summer at Augusta, so I’ll get to meet him then. I’m looking forward to it! Maybe he’ll let me try his flute too!

He must get around. I saw him play with Dervish last Fall, on 2 days notice when their regualr flute was ill. Fit in seemlessly.

Like Ivers he was part of the US touring group of Riverdance.

Just out of curiousity, what nationality is Ivan Goff? Is that an Irish name?

It sounds Russian. However, with that reccomendation, I wouldn’t miss them if he was a Martian.

Ivan Goff is Irish all right.

ahh, well there you have it. Thanks. Anyone know where in New York he tends to play?

He’s on the CD “Live at Mona’s” (in NYC).

I actually heard him play the other night at 11th street, nice pipering, though no flute that night.
