ITM songs for kids

Hey all,

I usually post in the whistle forums, but I figure this would be the most appropriate venue for my question. I’m interning in an elementary school and will be bringing a few of my whistles in on monday to perform for a few of the classrooms. I’ll be working with one of the third grade teachers to teach them a traditional folk song, but most of the ones I know by heart involve drinking, debauchery, or death.

Would anyone be so kind as to recommend a few “kid friendly” songs? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I’ll tell me ma would work, as would the Clancy’s arrangement of the Jolly Beggarman.

s1m0n’s right, Tell Me Ma is very sing alongable.
You could also try Mairi’s Wedding (though it’s Scottish).
Also, Mary Mac is a fun, tongue-twisty kind of song.

I think djm’s suggested Weila Walla on every childrens’ song thread.
It’s a running joke now! Sure sounds happy when the Dubliner’s do it.

I would bet they would like Seven old ladies.
