I think that side blown whistle from India must be it. It looks close to the baroque flute, but there’s no little tube thingy or fipple hole, in the baroque flute. Mine has a completely carved from wood fipple hole with sound blade carved right out of the one piece. I’ll bet that would sound better if I tweaked it up a bit. Hmmm.
It has a couple of cracks in the joint. I tried wrapping some masking tape around it, and it sounded much better. It also eliminated the air blown in my face. :roll:
The bell tone is a C. Actually, it’s a little sharp, much like an untweaked Walton.

I think it has to be the legendary “fipple flute”…(“Playin’ on a fipple flute, playin’ in the sun…”) the one on ebay has the cap on the wrong end though…I’m assuming the mouthpiece is free to rotate…
Jack, I’ve been meaning to tell you for some time, you’ve got the best darn signature on the web. There. That being said, I’d be glad to call it the legendary fipple flute. Or an Indian whistle. Or whatever. It sure is a fun little thing. I think it’s probably an Indian whistle/flute. It’s similar to others I’ve seen, but you don’t often see the tubular mouthpiece.

Seriously though, I can’t see the picture very well. At the least it’s a side-blown duct-flute, and if there is a tube (fipple) that goes into the mouth then it’s a side-blown fipple-flute.
There is probably somewhere a much more exotic sounding name (like the flutina) but I think we should just have a contest and make one up.
(Can’t remember where I found that signature, but it’s cool !)
