Hello fellow whistlers. I recently picked up a whistle at my local music store and began fooling around with it. I am now thoroughly bitten by the whistle bug and take it everywhere. Pulling it out at the most unlikely moments and playing with it. Until dribble comes out the end. When I usually wipe it and put it away again.

Anyway as I meant to say when I thought about begining this thread. Is their an OLWA (Online Whistle Archive) or an equivalent of the OLGA (Online Guitar Archive) I am looking for Whistle tab files. Yes I am musically illiterate. Oh the shame. If there is no OLWA. Someone needs to create one. How about it.

I don’t know of a site that has whistle tablature, but I think I can safely say that if there’s an instrument you don’t need it for, it’s whistle. First, there’s a strong tradition of learning songs by ear. That’s pretty hard for many (myself included), but very, very rewarding, even if you only do it some of the time.
Second, I think to some extent whistle simplifies the process of learning to read music. if you look up a site that shows you how to finger each of the notes on the music staff, and then print out that page as reference, you can find any whistle-oriented sheet music and will find it pretty easy to figure out the fingering for each of the notes in the tune you want to play. Of course, you’ll still need to learn about how rhythms are notated, but tablature doesn’t give you that, either.
