I put my Abell high F mouthpiece on my piccolo and it actually works quite well as a Boehm d whistle!
Something tells me Chris Abell is going to start selling a lot of F whistles all of a sudden…

A couple of years ago, I sent my piccolo to Chris for him to try to make a whistle head for it and he said the one he came up with was not quite in tune, and that it was possible, but he didn’t have the time then to do it. I think it was just before he started making the high F whistle. There is a spot (with the slide out a little less than 2mm) where tuning is acceptable to the ear (between octaves and with reality) throughout it’s range. Cool.
