Irish sessions in Dallas/Fort Worth area in June?

I will be in the D/FW area for about a week in June. I am looking for irish sessions on any day of the week, if anyone has any info.

Thanks.

Steve:

There’s one at the Cock and Bull pub on Gaston (you can google the exact addres) on Fridays from 6:30pm-9pm.

There’s also one on Tuesdays from 7pm+ at O’Dwyer’s Irish Pub on Trinity in Euless, again you can google the exact address.

There are a few more in town, but I’m not aware of any that are both weekly and “open”. There’s a closed session on Saturdays(?) at Trinity Hall, but to me that’s a “performance” and not a “session” so I’ve never been. Most of the other sessions I’ve found have been monthly or so, and so I don’t know much about them.

I’ve only been in Dallas about 8 months, so there may be more information out there.

Thank you for the leads.

Steve

There’s one starting up this weekend at the Tipperary Inn. “The Tipp” is at Skillman and Live Oak in Dallas. It’ll be every Sunday from 3 PM. The Tipp is re-opening today, so you might find some mis-information (old) on the Internet.

There is a regular open session at Trinity Hall once a month. It has previously been on the 4th Saturday but will probably be moved to the 1st Saturday starting in June. It is run by Ken Fleming:

Ken does also run a closed session on Sunday afternoons. It is a round-robin of local musicians. The main prerequisite for getting into the rotation is knowing the tunes in the set list (also available at the link above). Trinity Hall (http://www.trinityhall.tv) is a great pub with great food and atmosphere - definitely worth a visit in any case!

Ken’s sessions at the Trinity are of a very high standard. Not for the feint of heart. Also, he’s not keen on newer introductions to the Irish thing. Low whistle is probably OK, but anything introduced to the idom since that probably won’t be welcome. His band rocks, tho.
