Heard an Irish comedian the other evening explaining that we don’t invade other countries. We infest them. First off, just one or two of us turn up armed with just a sleeping bag and a telephone number. Then a few weeks later there are about thirty of us singing songs and generally convincing you all that we’re great crack. Then before you know it we’ve completely taken over the place!

Way to go Ireland!! You’re making us proud!
You know about rugby in San Jose? And the Melbourne Cup? Or is it just the world domination bit? Well, some members of the Board will be glad you’re backing Ireland for that one.

There was an article in the newspaper here about it. I always rejoice when anything good happens to or in Ireland.

We do Boyd, we do. And in the same week that an Irish horse won the Melbourne Cup, too. congratulations Ireland, but … where is this going to end.
As a rugby fan par excellence, I would suggest it isn’t going to end at Twickenham on Saturday. Good money says England pick up where Ireland left off - go the Poms!!

PS Well done Ireland and BOD, great result
Nothing like an Irish triumph or two to get the Anglo-Australian rivalry going. (Funny, but it seems to work every time.) Rugby-wise, my money stays where it is for Saturday—on nobody. When it comes to betting, nobody ever let me down. And in true Fawlty Towers style I have resolved not to mention the cricket.
By the way, what on earth made earlier posters think that I was unaware of the Irish infestation strategy for achieving world domination. As the descendant of Scottish highlanders, ancesters of mine were part of the earliest documented infestation. We know what is going on. It’s a few hundred years behind schedule though, I fear. Well, we all know who to blame that on …
… which brings us back to Anglo-Australian rivalry. I expect all you Irish Americans to be supporting those thoroughly infested Australians on Saturday. Get with it—we even have green in our jumpers.
