Irish Radio

If you like to listen to irish music, try Liveireland.com!!! I’m just listening to it right now and it’s so much more fun to read the last topics when listening to the real irish music.

I’m there!

Thanks a ton for the post!

I’ve been listening for over a year or so. They do repeat the same shows over and over again but you get to hear some really great music. As of yesterday, I have purchased 8 cds that contain the songs they play. You will find that half of their songs are from the Donal Lunny Journey record, or so it seems, which is fine by me.

I have emailed them a couple of times and got some answers about cuts. If you end up wanting to know CD title and can’t find out from them, email me privately and I might be able to tell you what record its from.

Thank you, claudine

The Weekenders, I can’t email you - you haven’t got your email linked.

If you are listening to LiveIreland right now, do you know who is playing?

Chorus words (as far as I can tell):

And it’s goodbye to green fields
women that love and hands that heal
mother, lay your hands upon me now.

And it’s goodbye to guiness and rain
and all of the things that release my pain
this is my place, but not my time
it never stood as mine.

I’ve heard this song on here several times. Seems to be a live recording and it was once followed by ten more songs seemingly from the same event. I happened to catch them on minidisc once, so I can provide a sound clip if anyone needs one. I’m not sure if all of the songs are going to be played now or not.

“I’ll put it to ya’ simple, Its The Immigrants.” But they have never had a dj say it, the guy says it at the beginning of the song so you have to wonder if he means the song or the group! Maybe some of our real Irish friends know

. I recognize the voice though from other cuts and it drives me nuts too. Great whistlin, huh? Nothing fancy, its just there. But the songs that follows it is even better. I think its Dolores Keane??? She sings about “The land that feeds our children, the land, you cannot own the land the land owns you.” Sends chills up my spine.

Yes they do replay these same shows OVER and OVER again. I may learn Erse yet from absorption. I know all of the commercials, all of the patter between songs.David Lattimer is the only guy who has answered my emails.

As soon as I figure out how to do the link thing I will. At the risk of getting vacuum cleaner inquiries and flamenotes, its: lancebeeson@attbi.com

Editing same post now that I’m home. On one of the oldest shows, Stella O’Malley announces this same guy who sings “Shannon Waltz” in a live show. My ol’ snynapses are firin’ as fast as they can but I have forgotten the group name. Not ALL that they play on there is available in the US. I bought two Sean Keane cds trying to get the version they play but it was a slightly different one each time. I go to Down Home Music in El Cerrito where they have a pretty impressive bunch of Celt CDs (and everything else traditional from Tibet to Louisiana) and scour the CDs lookin for the tunes. Latest hunt is for the “ACE” or I think, “Eist Stor” compilation (thats what a new unidentified woman DJ says anyway) to get this duo sung by a guy in a falsetto (I think its Brian Kennedy). I bought the wrong “Eist” cd a few days ago but ended up getting another song they play all the time. Can’t get enough of it anyway.
Best wishes to all.
