Irish music meets American Old Timy

A perfect exam-le as to how the two musics are related:

This video is stellar. I saw it quite a while back and it’s been in my youtube favorites ever since. Some friends of mine are great bluegrass/old timey players and have taught me some BG/OT tunes while I, in turn, have taught them Irish trad stuff. We play together in a band now “WTL”. Mostly, irish music but some bluegrass, and some mixture of the two with pipes and low whistle. It’s so much fun playing with the guys.
Thanks Pat for bringing up.
all the best,

Joe, thats you in worlds tallest leprechaun? I have seen some vids on youtube, you can tell you’re a tall fellow…cheers.

Thanks, Pat, for putting this up. I too have been getting more and more interested in the connections between Irish and American folk and tunes played like this. Does anyone know if this has been recorded on an album anywhere?

Is it my eyesight or does Michael play a droneless set of pipes?!

He is playing chanter only, so drones would not be needed  , but I think he has removed the bottom part of the base drone only.

PS Transatlantic Sessions 5 was recorded in March, but there is no indication when it will be broadcast.

I know that, i had a full set 15 years ago.. You may be right, although i think one would see the end mounts had the tenor and baritone been there, oh well, what do i know.. :stuck_out_tongue:
