Irish Flute or Fife

Hey Uncle Jaque,

NICE TOOTER! Beautiful, Elegant and Simple, I like it!

Just wondering…what’s the difference between a piccolo and a fife? :tomato:

All the Best!

Oh, about six inches. Why? :stuck_out_tongue:

Fyffer: I thought that the Middlesex County Vol’s went back from 8 to six holes about 7 years ago. What’s up with that?

Our Drum Major was a little disapointed with the MCV last Month at a muster they went to (I havne’t been keeping up or going to musters for the past 3 years). Hope it was an abboration, as I’ve been a big MCV fan (along with the rest of the Field Music) and have a couple albums, might get a few more.

Does anyone know of a place that will host a few audio files on line to share?

I use Photobucket to share graphics, and would like to be able to do the same with some audio, so you could hear what some of my instruments or compositions sound like.

**Here comes…

…The Old Third Maine!

Gorham, NH.

The 3rd Maine Infantry will be participating in the Gorham NH 4th of July Parade again this year.**

I play the fife, and have done so for many, many years. For me, the difference between the fife and the flute is that a fife was primarily used for (but not limited to) marshall music. Its pitch and volume was ideal for calling field commands to the troops above the din of war… something a flute would have had a very hard time doing.
