Any feeling about backing up an iPhone to the Cloud vs to your own computer? Is one or the other safer? More reliable? Do the same things get backed up?
Why not both? You can’t have too many backups.
AFAIK iCloud backs up less things (can’t find which at the moment), and the data goes through the Internet not just your USB or Wi-Fi. That’s the current deviation from the ‘it just works’ mantra.

I don’t have an iPhone but I have an iPod. It asks me where I want to back up every time I plug the thing in. Alternating seems a reasonable approach.
My iPhone likes to tell me every morning that it can’t complete its cloud backup for whatever obscure reasons. I don’t worry about it too much, and just plug it into my laptop now and then.
