Intermediate and Advanced Players question: Practice

There may be naysayers on this, but I am not one of them; I wholeheartedly agree. There is such a thing as overtraining, which can result in muscles getting overworked and losing mass. Overtraining does also have an effect on the nervous system. You’ll notice that when you are feeling stressed out after a long practice.

Try this, and I’m serious. Set the pipes down for a day, or two, or a week. Play your favorite tune. You’ll find yourself playing satisfactorily, and you’ll find yourself feeling the joy of “just playing” instead of feeling the stress of “figuring it out”.

Play your rolls dead slow e.g. make each move deliberate.

Repeat hundreds of times…

Gradually increase tempo.

Do this over a course of a month.
