Interesting transformation and excellent information

I recently bought a Generation Bb which when I received it was virtually unplayable as it sounded awfully bad. Thanks to the excellent information on the C&F website I was able to successfully tweak it. Not only did the tweaks make it playable but I would probably say it turned out to be the best sounding whistle in my whole collection which includes several Burkes and a Chieftain as well as several cheap whistles.

All thumbs up for the tweaking info!

Glad you sorted it out. You obviously enjoyed doing it. Now you’ve started down the slippery slope. It’s only a matter of degree. Eventually you will start with a piece of tubing or a block of wood and tweak the beejeebers out of it until it plays very nicely.

Well, the thought of starting out with a piece of tubing or a block of wood HAS crossed my mind so I guess I’m slowly sliding down that slippery slope… I guess once past that threshold one always will look at a piece of wood or a length of pipe in a different way like “Hmmm…How will I get that beautiful whistle out of that block of wood” or “Hmmm…I wonder if that piece of pipe can be made into a nice whistle.”.

Yes, that is how it goes. I think it’s worse than Whoa. Just the other day my wife and I were traveling down the expressway when we approached a large truck loaded with plastic tubing. I looked at her with a big grin and she said “Don’t tell me - whistles?” I have a piece of plastic in my pocket now that I found in the drive way. I wish I knew where it came from, it would make a perfect whistle if it were longer.

And so it goes.

Good story, Carey. Earlier this week I perked up while watching a morning trafffic report. Now, I am retired and I don’t generally give a hang about the rush-hour traffic these days. But, there was a truck that lost it’s load that closed a local highway. The truck lost a load of PVC pipe. Harvel manufactures plastic pipe nearby. You know what I was thinking, right?

Watch out, ahogrelius, tweaking can lead to harder stuff.
