While this article has mainly to do with the group “Hesperus” (which I’d never heard of before), I found some of their assertions regarding Celtic music interesting. Some I’d heard before, but others, such as the assertion that “While English colonizers burnt fiddles, Scottish and Irish musicians started writing down everything they knew,” were new to me. An odd thing to say about a musical tradition that is generally considered to be aurally transmitted.
