[THREAD REVIVAL - MOD]

I ported the Axianoff 3d printable Irish flute onto printables, and have printed a few to give to people. They are universally well-liked and in my opinion have a lovely tone. Axianoff also made a 3d printable simple system piccolo that a Russian guy tracked down over the course of a month. That’s on printables too and it’s a real joy to play.

I’m currently in the midst of recreating my Dixon low D whistle body in OpenSCAD so I can swap the fipple onto it. My plan is, once I have a good D whistle, I can print an E whistle and Eb whistle, and swap the fipple (head) onto those to get the same, or very similar, tone. I, personally, am a big fan of the way my Dixon sounds

I’m also about 20% of the way through recreating my David Daye Uilleann half set in OpenSCAD. I got hung up trying to improve on his drone reed design, based on some work by a guy in Pasadena making a printable Bulgarian pipe set. IT IS SO LOUD HOLY COW. But I think I can get a nice set of printed drones jammed into my existing pipes. I already have two different models for a Uilleann chanter: one is based of the O’Flynn Rowsome measurements on pipers.ie. The other is a hybrid O’Flynn Rowsome and Daye Penny Chanter: this is the one I like best, but I haven’t released it outside of my github repository.
