Since I am a noobie to the whistle I would like more info on the D whistle versus D+. I was told that the D+ provides for a low C when needed on some Irish tunes, etc. How is this achieved since it looks exactly like a regular high D whistle to me.
I can’t speak for anyone else’s D+ whistles, but on mine, the total whistle length is that of a C whistle, which allows for that extra low C note. Apart from that, it’s played exactly like any other D whistle.
