How much do you mean when you say inexpensive? What’s yer upper limit?

I dunno, like $150? The one on ebay, its a 14" They have some larger.. They any good to start with?
The smaller lightline ones from heidwitschak are not too much more. I’m very fond of my (not deep) 12" version. The deep ones are somewhat more expensive I think, but you could check whistleanddrum.com.

14" is alright to start with, people buy big unwieldy drums and they are totally unneccesary.
The drum I play most looks like this one.
which has a 12" head, and is usefull as a whistle case as well
