Shaken by new terrorism on European soil, officials have stepped up a policy of deporting Islamic clerics accused of whipping up hatred and violence in vulnerable, disenfranchised pockets of the continent’s mostly moderate Muslim community.
Pity they can’t deport Bill O’Reilly and Lush Rimbaugh.
Rush yes, Bill no ![]()
Well, European officials could, but I’m afraid we’re stuck with them here in the US. ![]()
Equivocation… right.
Then let me rephrase: Well, European officials could, but I’m afraid we’re unequivocably stuck with them here in the US. ![]()
I’d like to read more. Do you have a link to a news article about this?
Well whattaya know–it’s from Pravda. Amazing the things you can find on google.

I wouldn’t have thought the texasbagpiper was a commie.
I got it from Yahoo (U.S. Yahoo) , not Russia … let me see if I can find it again…
I can imagine you were really upset by this news given the opinion of Islam you expressed earlier.
I would suggest to you that there are more constructive ways of getting the attention you apparently need so badly. I really have to wonder how old you are.
This really is condescending. Hopefully you can justify such a superior attitude.
Personally, I support people taking care of their own first. If foreigners want to come to a new country, they are obliged to accept that country’s society and laws, not plot its violent destruction with hate-mongering. We could go into a long drawn-out debate about the freedom of speach, but the reality is that you have a right to defend your home from offensive visitors, and a pre-eminent strike may be justified if sufficient evidence is available that the visitors plan violence.

I will venture hopefully to justify my superior attitude.
My superior attitude is based on the fact that I don’t insult Muslims, I don’t call any religion “false” out of respect for those who follow its tenets (that would include Christianity, by the way), I don’t equate Islam with something like Scientology by using it in a parallel construction, I don’t quote something without quotation marks and without citing the source, I don’t attempt to stir up anger for the fun of it. Check out the thread I have quoted from—http://chiffboard.mati.ca/viewtopic.php?t=31059&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=15, page 2. You will now find “I love it” along with a big grin written there instead of the original statement. I cannot believe an adult would behave this way. Is that good enough for you?
A pre-eminent strike would indeed be something—were you planning something even bigger than Hiroshima? I fear “your own” may be hurt in your attempt to protect them.
I think she was referring to his comment earlier that Islam was a false religion. It does make you wonder how old the writer is, as it shows a lack of knowledge of world religions, as well as intolerance.
Religious tolerance being one of the underpinnings of this country . . .
Either all religions are false, or none are.
I cannot believe an adult would behave this way. .

s1m0n, can that be known? I don’t have a religion but I don’t know that I can make any assertions at all about the trueness or falseness of any religion. Maybe you mean this is the best attitude to adopt with respect to the religions of one’s fellow men, in which case I would agree. They are all equal.

None can be demonstrated to be materially different than any other in terms of degree of truth. If you’re sorting religions into “true” and “false” and you’re being honest, they all have to go into the same pile.
You get to choose the which pile, however.

You seem to be tolerant of all religions save those which hold themselves to hold the sole truth… hmm… Islam is one that believes itself that way.

So you disagree with Texaspiper and decide the best recourse is to attack his age? I know you can do better then that!!!
Personally, I feel that intolerance of anyone else’s religion is wrong, speaking from a moral standpoint. My muslim coworker and I both hold to religions that hold themselves to be the only true ones (no, I won’t tell you about what I believe, that’ll just open up a whole new can o’ worms), but he has NEVER ever tried to tell me that mine was wrong…and I reciprocate…we have, in fact, found that our faiths share a very strong resemblance and entertain the idea that they both might have come from the same or similar source or origin.
I say Simon has the right idea…either they are all wholly false or all completely true…
If such a respect were adopted on a worldwide platform, I feel their would be far fewer problems than there are.
