Hi all,
How are yeh? I’m great! Right, so I was browsing through the Whistle Shop website and came across a Walton’s Little Black D - I immediately felt a WhOA episode - but, before I buy it, I want you guys opinion. Would it be a good buy? Is the tone good? Andrea Corr plays it - so I figured it must be a good whistle, I just wanted to know you guy’s opinions on it!

Imagine peace,

It’s cheap, don’t like the whistle much, feels too light and unstable, but I love the fipple on my old Generation! Have fun, when you get a cheap whistle it’s hard to go wrong, but if you end up with expesive whistles you hate, it’s a problem!
I don’t particularly like it but my wife does and it’s always the one from my collection that she’ll go for first. When people describe whistles and their attributes there is always a lot of subjectivity involved. One man’s chiff is another man’s chaff. The best advice is always ‘blow it and see’ but that’s not much help if you live a long way from the supplier.
Tell us what other whistles you have and if you like them or not. Then we can at least say “Oh yeah, if you like X then you’ll like the Walton’s”.
Anna,
Do mean light and unstable in sound, or just how it feels when you hold it? Sorry if that’s a dumb question. Yeah, if you end up with an expensive whistle you don’t like, that can be bad - at least with a 5.00 whistle that’s not good, you didn’t loose a lot of money. I may buy it to pratice tweaking on.
jbarter,
Yeah, I guess it’s all about personal preference. I have an Acorn in D, a Clarke in C, and two Gens - an F and an Eb. Judging by those, would I like a Walton’s?
