I think I'm getting the hang of it

After a week of trying to figure it out, and almost passing out several times, I can now play a slightly shaky version of Sally Gardens on my flute. I am in love

Way to go! I can remember when I was 11 and my father was teaching me to play classical flute. He wouldn’t let me play anything but the headjoint for a week!! I’m so glad that’s over with. Congratulations on your efforts, keep it up!

Actually, I made surprising progress on tone production when my teacher suggested playing just the headjoint. I recommend it. You have to put your hand over the end, though, as I recall, right thurlowe?

I would also like to report that now about 4 months into my flute playing, and fresh from a lesson, I have officially honked–and repeatedly. You think you’re in love, now, Ron–just wait!!
