I need $12 million from you.

This island is for sale.

Here’s the story. It’ll make your heart cry
This would be a good place to park my island yacht.

In an only barely related matter, I hear Lifetime may be doing a remake of The Blue Lagoon.

I dunno, Mute. I’d want something with more elevation than the Maldives, if you follow. A natural fresh water supply would be good, too.

They’ll be underwater in 10 years.

It’s a plot, I tell you!

10 years should be plenty of time to finish my mutate to have gills. Then I can watch the remake of The Blue Lagoon underwater.

Gills is old tech, now days it’s O2 directly absorbed through the skin and chloroplasts in the cells of the epidermis and a resistance to Roundup®. BTW Virginia now has a new regulation that can charge citizens for sunlight use so even the chloroplasts might not be as valuable as once thought.

All well and good, but I like my food cooked.

If you knew sushi like I know sushi…

Well, okay. Most of the time.

Two Words: Hot Springs.

Everybody likes giant Siboglinidae worms! Genius!

The two words were Hot Springs, not Thermal Vents.

I would also like to retain the word “crispy” in my culinary vocabulary.

The tiny island “paradise” that is for sale gives me the chills just looking at it. I would go to bed at night and worry about the rogue wave that could easily wash away me and my 12 million dollar investment. Of course, after that event the money wouldn’t be any good to me anyway. But in the meantime I could use a little of it here in the heartland, where we only have to occasionally duck for tornadoes.

With regard to “crispy”, that is my wife’s favorite word when it comes to food. She leaves the stove top a greasy mess after she cooks anything. I tell her about using a lid for the skillet that is popping grease, but she looks at me like I am crazy. She definitely doesn’t want any of my “steamed” food.

You two are literally oil and water. How do you do it?

But I guess my real question is, does she say cleanup is your job? Either way, get her a couple of these splatter-screen lid jobbies:

Frying foods won’t steam, and you’ll probably hear fewer yelps out of the kitchen.

Why am I now imagining a meal of uncooked rice, sous-vide mackerel, and some crispy pickles?

Don’t ask me. Do you actually eat uncooked rice?

BTW, not to nitpick, but I would say crunchy pickles, or maybe crisp pickles. If they are crisp**y**, the must have been dried and probably fried. But that’s in my brain. I have a close relationship to crispy.

More the image of uncooked sushi the earlier exchange brought to mind.

Have had uncooked rice in the past, but that was due to a failed horchata attempt involving rice flour.

Splatter screens are great just get the smallest mesh possible.

If you’re going to sleep/swim with the fishes ya need to be careful about who you associate with. You’d be amazed at the number of unpleasant uninvited hitchhikers some of those guys have both inside and out. Thank goodness lutefisk is safe.

Ya sure!
