And I love it even more when I’m 2/3 through a bottle.
And when Costo offers up Old Vince Zin from Gnarly Head for $7.99 a bottle, I love it more.

Perhaps I should wait until tomorrow to post this.

No, because tomorrow you’ll have a headache.
We loved it too. Now it’s all gone
Can’t wait to open a new bottle tonight ![]()
I love Zinfandels (not the “white” stuff…it’s like zin with its soul removed). Mondavi used to make a wonderful Lodi old vine that I could get for about $8 a bottle, but I can’t find it anymore.
That’s a good price on Gnarly Head. We just discovered $6.99 a bottle Twisted Tree Zinfandel…not great, but it’s cheap and not too bad.
Daniel, if you like Zindfandels, have you tried any Nortons? Stone Hill and St. James in Missouri make wonderful Nortons which have a similar spicy note that I love. I sent a bottle out to my aunt in Thousand Oaks, CA who is a zin junkie, and she loved the Norton, too.

@ emmline: No headache. It’s a nice morning. ![]()
@ dwest: Another bottle? What a great idea.
@ Jayhawk: Gnarly Head is an old vine (mostly Lodi) blend. They have a single vineyard selection too - but I haven’t found it. I’ve never tried a Norton varietal, I’ll keep that in mind. If you run across a Primitivo, they are nice if you like Zins.
Another nice Norton is from the best vineyard for Nortons, Hortons. Horton’s Norton!
I’ll have to try Hortons, but I can’t imagine better than Stone Hill…and at $19 per bottle it ought to be good.
What’s up with Lodi…old vine I understand, but I’m clueless what Lodi means except it’s usually used in conjunction with a zin I end up liking.

Lodi, California in the lovey “cool” San Joaquin Valley! ![]()
Lodi…as in “stuck in Lodi again” ![]()
Near that well known town, BFE.
You’d think they would want to hide that, wouldn’t ya?
Thanks for the lowdown on Lodi.
