I just saw pennywhistles being played on Batman

Batman was on TV and I heard what sounding like pennywhistles. I turn to look at the TV and sure enough, Batman, Robin, and Batgirl were playing pennywhistles! Why, I don’t know. I’m not even sure what whistles they were playing, they were coloured: yellow, green, and I think blue. I thought they were possibly Acorns. Batman is the last show I’d expect to hear/see pennywhistles!

What tune were they playing?
What did it sound like?

Oh, no. Either Sara is hallucinating or we’ve got a brand new mystery on our hands.

Dale

wasn’t that the way to combat an evil menace or overcome his spell? I think I remember that episode. In color on my Mom’s brand new tv right when shows were changing over from b&w.

Bam!!! Poww!!! OOOOF!!!

Didntya just kinda wonder about “Robin,”
Bruce Wayne’s “ward?”

Its always you, Friend of Friends (see Ace and Gary).

DAVY SPILLANE IS BATMAN!

I know 100% that I wasn’t hallucinating, because my parents saw it too.

I tried to identify the tune, but have no earthly clue what it was. It was fast, probably a jig. They were playing it to ward off little yellow mice. That’s all I really know.

I think it’s a mystery - I can see it now. “Sara Drew, the Pennywhistle Detective in the new mystery: The Search for the Whistles”

Okay, so the title stinks, but it’s all I could think of.

I’ve been holding off on this one for six months thinking someone else would mention it.Back in the last two weeks of January there was a whistle on one episode of Gene Roddenberry’s Andromeda. With all the scifi fans on this board I’m surprised no one else saw it.It looked like a Clarke No Diamonds to me. It was not played and there has been no further mention of it. I just looked up the episode number. It is:
"Bunker Hill " - Episode #211

John

maybe batman got his whistle from policechief o’hara? he might be gotham citys’answer to francis o’neill!

JSW aka John

You are not — alone.

MarkB

I’ve never seen whistles on Batman, but I once saw some girls in plaid playing bagpipes. Anyway, I think they were trying to hypnotize Batman. I can’t remember how it turned out, though.

Sarah

Could Batman be playing the Pied piper Tune backwards to ward off mice? Record the episode play backwards, end of Pied Piper Tune mystery!

That’s just what I was thinking!!!

Or maybe… Batman is affiliated with…

DA DA DAAAAAAAHHHH!

THE CRYSTAL PEOPLE

ooooooooo.

we may never know…

I recall seeing at least part of that episode. The climax was where they had to play music to robot mice programmed to follow musical instructions so they would go into the Gotham River before the time they were set to explode. Dale, we need more whistle mysteries, the ones we have are being solved too fast! I like JSW’s new mystery sighting, too.

…and maybe superman plays a CLARKE kent?(groan). fellow Brits of a certain age might remember that the erstwhile timelord doctor who,as portrayed,in his third incarnation,by patrick Troughton, played a RECORDER(so that’s why i hid behind the sofa when it was on the t.v.!)
