I Hate Change!

The message board format has changed again! I hate change!

Change is inevitable…we must accept it, or we will be forever left, begrudging the fact that things aren’t as we like them… sigh

oh well

I actually kind of like the change…

Change is one thing, progress is another. Change is scientific, progress is ethical; change is indubitible, whereas progress is a matter of controvery” -Bertrand Russell

The former was like Windows 98, this is like…Windows XP

Windows XP? :astonished:

Fortunately this looks more like Unix

Though the “turbo” in-line editor does smell of CP/M or VMS. But good! I’d hate if it went SM*-Office.

*sadie-masie…

I like it! Change is good, I say

Cool avatar!
Great use of the background never getting washed white!

Change is good sometimes, and a must many times. Changes of boards I do not like at all as it feels “to different” it´s like you don´t recocnize yourself in the new “environment” which used to feel like home.

I hate to be negative (and I’m just a lurker, really), but its just too damn busy. Like watching one of those cable news channels with info scrolling in every direction.
Too many bells and whistles. Easier to do emoticons tho I can’t insert em in the text field. They only come after.

:imp:   :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue:

Actually It´s the change to some degree but I actually really liked the “layout” of the old board. This new design I have seen at several other boards and I really disliked them from the begining.
So.. I hate the change and I hate the board layout itself.

Sorry for being so negative, doesn´t use to be that but really have to say my opinion on this one. It may be a small thing in the end, but it really disturbs and annoys me.

(yes I do have greater problems than this in real life

I’ve seen a few incarnations of this board. There is one good thing - you can edit your posts and the message saying you did so doesn’t appear in your post. I could never figure out how to get rid of that message when I went back to correct some spelling errerr, airor, er, mistake.

I love the new look-- it’s too fun seeing the pics everyone chooses for their avatar. And the ease of the smilies… woohoo!! :sunglasses: Thanks Rich!!

Andrea

I agree with The Weekenders… the new interface is too busy.

20% of the screen is now Avatar or Emoticons and the
text got smaller. More emphasis is placed appearance than content.

Rich,
Netscape isn’t supported very well. Posts with images don’t
resize properly and the text gets covered up. Can this be
corrected?

I guess I’ll get used to it, teensy text and all. I think it’d be really cool if everyone would put up actual pictures of themselves instead of funky stuff, but I guess some of 'em are just too scary… hmmm… waitaminit… Sam, where’d you get that “Mr. Clean” pic? Could you resize that?
serpent

Serp - I just typed “mr. clean” into google’s image search. I don’t remember the actual website though. :frowning:

I’m not opposed to change… it looks nice and all, but I’ll have to check into some settings or something because I do have one particular rant (of course  ) …

Every single area EXCEPT inside a topic looks great, but once I click on a topic and start reading, the page width is a tiny bit wider than my browser window. I have to scroll to the right to get all the info if I can’t ‘figure out’ the message without doing so. Know what I mean?

And to cut the techs off at the beginning  My screen resolution is already beyond 1024x768, so no issues there.

Overall though. It’s ok. Don’t mind the new look… everything takes a bit of getting used to. Kinda miss the flaming folders!

Take care all,

John

What browser are you using? It should resize to fit unless someone’s put a big image in a post or something. I tested all the browsers I could get my hands on before the upgrade, but I’ve surely missed some.

If you’re using Internet Explorer, could you provide the revision number too?

Thanks,

    -Rich

Rich,
I’m using Netscape Communicator 4.51 and images collide
with text.
At a resolution of 800x600, I noticed with multiple page
threads the ‘next’ page button is sometimes off the right
edge and requires horizontal scrolling to reach it. This was
probably afected by a long URL or large image.

Me likes. Believe me people, I belong to other phpBB boards and it could have been WAYYYY more busy and complicated than this. this is clean and tidy comparitively.
