about Water Weasels…
I have been borrowing a board member’s D, C, Eb Water Weasel set, and oh. my. god.
They aren’t ugly at all, and I haven’t felt the urge to paint them. 
Of course, these ones don’t have the plumbing code on them. But I still wouldnt’ call them ugly if they had it.
They play like heaven and then some.

Wow. Maybe I need to try one or two. They were supposed to have them at Elderly’s but didn’t.
Isn’t Glenn Schultz a genius? With the arrival of warm weather, I recently started playing my Thin Weasel cocobolo D. (I retire during the cold weather because I have a clogging problem with it, stick to all-wood mouthpieces then.) I had forgotten how wonderful an instrument it is. It’s enigmatic – Glenn somehow finds a way to make it sound pure, but chiffy; sweet, but with a harsh edge; loud but pleasant. The PVC D really plays almost as well, too, at a price that you don’t have to be insane to pay (I’m insane, but happy).
If you think the C/D/Eb set is nice, the Bb and A are even better.
I love them. When I give these ones back I’m going to have to buy at least a D. Have to. There’s nothing else to be said about it.
Yup. Love my Thin Weasel high D. It gets played a lot… 
I’ll add a hearty AMEN for the Bb/A WW set. I LOVE mine. I also have an Ab that I really enjoy. Water Weasels are amazing!
Make that two hearty AMENs! I don’t know what it is about them (I think that it may have something to do with the grey coloring), but they are special.

Same here, the D WW is now my main whistle (or it will be, as soon as Glenn finishes the one with the plumbing code he’s making for me!).
It’s great getting a $300 whistle for $70!
So is my Thin Weasel PVC whistle actually a Water Weasel? Did the name change or is there a difference in design?? I bought mine several years ago and the sticker actually reads ‘Thin Weasel’. Should I now make plans to buy a Water Weasel???

Go to the front page of www.thinweasel.com. The CPVC models are called Water Weasels because they’re made from plumbing pipe. Usually when people talk about Thin Weasels they’re talking about the wooden ones, and WW refers to the plastic ones.
As for some comparisons between the woodens and plastics: Although the difference in playability and sound is slight for the D, I’d say that the wooden D is a better whistle – it took me a long time to appreciate just how much better. The WW is pretty much for travelling these days. And there’s no comparison for the C, which is a larger bore in the wood. I hafta say, I’d give the edge to the plastic over the wood in the Bb, although I’m getting my wooden Bb back after Glenn’s done some work on it. All great whistles no matter how you slice them.
If you’re looking for an excuse, you can get a Bb/A set and a low-G and probably an E for the price of a wooden D. Not that I’m trying not to spread the gospel of wooden whistles, but all of those WW’s are exceptional IMO.
