Humphrey Copperhead

Hi,

Is there any change to obtain an Copperhead (made by Gary Humphrey)? Or would someon sell one?
His new Website is not online yet. Don’t know if he still make them.

You might be able to locate a used one, but there were only 10 ever made.
I haven’t worked with copper since early 2003 when I first started making whistles.
Sorry about the delay with getting my website back online, but development of the new design has taken longer than anticipated.
I do have all the bugs worked out now, but I’m currently working too much overtime at my regular job to start back making whistles.
I’m very hopeful that my work hours will return to normal after the first of the year, and I’ll be able to start production of the new design.
Good luck with your search for a Copperhead, and keep an eye on my website for information about the new design if you think you might be interested in it.

Only 10? Guess won’t be easy to find one. :sniffle:
Well, I’m very curious how the new design will be.
Thanks for your response.

So…anyone here who would sell an Copperhead?

Hey Gary, could you please give us an idea of what the new whistles are like, and how they are different from the ones you’ve been making? I’ve been checking the website to see when you get the new info up, but I’d love to hear the news. I’m still loving the ones you made me.

Thanks,

Adrian

The new design is a hybrid that incorporates the features I favor in Burkes and Overtons, which are my two favorite whistles.
Each key will have a different bore size, and will feature a traditional tuning slide instead of a movable mouthpiece.
The first whistle mouthpieces I made had a very similar design, so fans of the old Copperheads will probably be happy to see a refined version made from a better choice of materials.
I’d post some photos, but all I have at the moment are a couple of rough prototypes.
Hopefully I’ll find the time to complete a pretty one to show off during my Christmas break, but for now the overtime at my regular job isn’t leaving me with much time or energy to spend in the workshop.
