I very much appreciate it when members, acting in good faith, point out to me potential problems in threads that might call for my intervention. However, it is very difficult for me to respond when I am not properly directed to the thread or the post to which you refer. Before you Private Message or email me, please copy the http:// address of the thread in question (on Windows machines, you can right click on the address at the top of your browser and select COPY) and then PASTE it into your message to me. Or, alternately, provide me with the forum (whistle, whistle pub, flute, etc) the name of the thread, the log-in name of author of the post or posts to which you refer. This would be greatly appreciated as I otherwise have to poke around looking for what you refer to.
Also, if all possible, cut and paste whatever actual text from the post you are referring to.
Dale, I’ve been meaning to write you to point out an offensive post. I don’t recall the name of the poster or which forum it’s in, and the title had something to do with celtic music, I think, but not whistles. Unless it did. I forget.
Anyway, it has that… WORD…in it…and I think it’s inappropriate on a family forum. I can’t write it here, it’s too inappropriate, but I’m sure you know what one I mean. I closed the window out of shock before I caught the web address. But I’m sure you’ll find it and deal with it appropriately. Thanks!
I think I kinda remember that too, Ava. It was a post, somewhere, mighta been here or at a guitar forum, or maybe it was in the letters section of the local paper. But, I thought, “Boy, Dale needs to know about this, pronto.”
And now, with our shiny new look, allow me to direct everyone’s attention to the little red exclamation mark clicky at bottom right of each post: it’s the new “Report” function. If you think a particular post is problematic, click “Report” and let us know WHY there’s a (potential, maybe) problem. Works a treat, and helps the mods keep track better, what with the volume of stuff happening around here.
Just try to not overuse it, please. We don’t care if someone’s punctuation is offensive to you.
Hmm. Is that so? I did not know that. You’re a sharp one. I suppose it’s the sort of rationale that suggests that if I have a Foe, then really I have no business sending a PM to him/her, at least on a spam basis. Makes sense in a rules-and-regs sort of way to me.
I have to say I don’t like this multiple sendings thing much. After all, it’s no longer a PM by definition, is it? It’s a CM (conference message). Maybe I’ll grow to be comfortable with it.
