doing my homework on learning to play single cuts but having a hard time on them.
has anyone some tips on how to tackle this?
and how do you memorize them…looks hard to me.

My teacher had me play a scale slowly, one note at a time, and then put in a cut, then a tap, on each one, without regard to time, just to get the hang of it.
The Bill Ochs book has a really good section on ornamentation, including tunes on which to practice each ornament.
For some reason I find it much harder to cut going down the scale than going up…not sure why.

The first whistle I ever played was a Generation and I got a single cut on my finger from its rough finishing

was just trying out and it is confusing when you see the pics compared to the actual notes you have to play …

The Grey Larsen tutor has a very good chapter on cuts. It shows fingerings, and talks about the practicalities of doing cuts moving down the scale vs. up the scale, etc. He also gives some example tunes and shows where cuts might be placed. Highly recommended.
