Now I have no time to manage a website any more, so I gave up ! but I lost all the passwords to access the admin. so when I wanted to delete Gilles’ website a few years ago, it was impossible…
Sylvain
But for general info’s sake it would be really nice to see a current pricelist of Gilles’ work posted somewhere (like, here?).
Thanks for the info. No email? Ah well…
Yeah, I’m a lazy American ![]()

Sylvain (if you’re still out there reading) any chance you could post the music notation for “Clare’s Reel” (as heard on the Wooden Flute Obsession) CD? Would be much appreciated ![]()

It’s a common mistake.
Once you have it can you please post a review? I’m interested in ordering a keyless in D and would appreciate your opinion.
Our man Tom, aka Blackbeer, acquired one of those keyless beasties last year.
Here’s his review. http://chiffboard.mati.ca/viewtopic.php?t=14855&highlight=lehart

Hi All
Sorry but these prices are no longer quite accurate. I got a new 2004 price list from Gilles today and the keyless d or eflat is now 550 euros - prices go up to 700 for a FIFRE MI bemol - whatever that is!!! (someone speak French better than me?) Additional keys now cost 80 euros each.
BETTER than all that though today I got my long awaited (8 months) Lehart 5 key (925 euros) and it is beautiful - a warm brownish colour with Gille’s trademark copper rings - very elegant!!! Pefectly in tune with good balance between the octaves and a sweet warm tone - so far it seems relatively easy for me to blow and the holes are in just the right places for my hands - all that’s not bad since I’m still such a beginner. Anyway, this is my first proper wooden flute and I can’t believe the differnce between it and the Dixon 3 pc polymer I’ve been trying to learn on. It makes the Dixon seem really rough and hard to play (and I thought that was because I wasn’t so good playing it but now I think it was the flute not me!!) The Lehart is a delight and well worth the wait. The only complaint I’d have is that it doesn’t come in a case - fortunately my teacher was in Brittany and picked it up for me to transport it safely. but I think he should include hard cases - anyone know where I can get hold of a good one in the U.K?
Off to noodle now!!
Sarah
Realy Gilles you should be ashamed of yourself. Just because you make an incredibly fine instrument and then sell it for at least 2 to 3 hundred dollars less then any other maker of similar quality flutes doesn`t mean you can cheet us out of a hard case. ![]()
Tom
I’d like to find a hard case that would fit my long-bodied flutes without costing an arm and a leg.
(I know, after all the talk about humidors, I opted for a small heavy wooden trunk from World Market, but I’d rather keep the flutes packed away in hard flute-type cases inside the trunk)
MEA CULPA for hijacking the thread!!!
Tom: The LeHart flute is TOO good ~ it’s blasting the walls, for sure!!!
Mary
Mary - look on ebay for gun cases, the long body fits sideways, and with a blade you can shape the foam to fit your flute perfectly.
I think they can be had for around $5?, I don’t have one, as a woodworker it’s not an option for me ![]()
Mary - I bought my gun case from a local sporting goods store (Dicks - I didn’t even know they had guns). If you have a real gun shop near you, I’m sure they’d have a selection of pistol cases to choose from. Mine was $6.99 which is a lot cheaper than eBay plus postage. Doskosport/Doskocil makes large cases for long barrelled pistols, etc. that I’m sure would work for you. Actually, the small case I have might work since the longest body part of my flute is just about 12".
Eric
Mary, I can`t be held responsable for any structural damage to the premisus. ![]()
I hope that means you are still happy with Mr. Leharts work.
