I think this is from a TV channel that many people get, so perhaps it is something everyone has seen. I must say I will never feel the same about using aluminum foil----what an amazing feat!
I was disappointed. They didn’t say why one side is shiny and the other dull. Also, they had no information on the best way to make an alien-repelling foil hat. Its always the basics that these help shows seem to miss.
i didn’t watch the video but i did see a tv show about this. the shiny/dull side has to do with which side touched the roller. no i don’t remember which is which and it doesn’t matter.
regarding the alien-repelling foil hat. how to make the alien hat and which style of hat to choose from depends on which type/species is getting at your head. just keep working on your hat and modifying the structure (pirate, tri-corner, hemi-spheric) til you find the shape that works best for your situation. don’t forget about additional adornments and antenae. no, i will not show you my hat so that you could copy it, that will just reduce it’s effectiveness. but thanks for asking. it works.
Oh gee, I missed out that one side was shiny and one wasn’t. I thought they were both the same. Ohhh, you mean on the roll a person uses at home. Very astute observaton and good answer. I have heard mention of foil hats but what is the deal with them? Why do they repell aliens? Like they are shooting rays at your head?
If you’re truly interested in tin foil hats and blocking waves from entering into your head, you’ve got to check out this guy. This guy also has instructions regarding the use of deflective hats to combat mind control.
If you’re worried about mind control AND staying with the latest fashion trends, you’d be smart to check this fellow out.
It’s not just aliens. Some people use them because they think the
government or the Illuminati or some other conspiratorial group is
either trying to control their minds with radio waves, or is trying to
read their mind by picking up some sort of waves from the brain.
The reason they think tin/aluminum foil is supposed to stop this is
the concept of a Faraday Cage. When the FCC started enforcing
rules that electrical devices shouldn’t interfere with radio waves
that will be picked up by other devices, we electrical types started
using sheets of metal connected to the ground plane to surround
components which generate strong electromagnetic signals. Talk
of these Faraday shields was picked up by conspiracy theorists of
the time, and the rest is fashion history.
EDIT: After reading Tyler’s wikipedia link, I realized my comment
is redundant. Oh well. I really like this, from the aforementioned
wikipedaia article:
A (somewhat tongue-in-cheek) study by graduate students at MIT determined that a tin-foil hat could either amplify or attenuate incoming radiation depending on frequency; the effect was observed to be roughly independent of the relative placement of the wearer and radiation source. Note that GHz wavelengths are well below the putative skin depth of even the thinnest foil.
Hilarious. So the government could actually target the people with
tinfoil hats by selecting the proper frequency.
I have an idea. Let’s start a world wide “Wear a Foil Hat Day”. We would need to pick a good day of the year to do this on. Any ideas? Not mentioning aluminum specifically opens up the possibility of using aluminized Mylar or gold leaf, for example, opening up all sorts of fashion possibilities for that day!
I found a cute emoticon at http://zapatopi.net/afdb/afdbsmiley.gif, at the http://zapatopi.net/afdb/ web site pointed out in Tyler Morris’s post. I imagine it could get a lot of use on our forums. (Normally, I don’t believe in using emoticons in my own posts, but this one seemed appropriate.)

Okay. I was just looking around for foil hats and the like. Well, here’s this company that sells colored aluminum foil!!! Like red, blue, gold. And they also sell:

Okay. This foil is for multi-colour highlight applications on people’s HAIR! What the heck is this? Why would they need different colors of aluminum foil to apply highlights to someone’s hair?
Available in pink, yellow, blue, or green
See, I can understand this—although why you’d care about the color of your highlighting cap is beyond me. You pull strands of hair out through the holes and make those strands a different color than the hair left inside. But what on earth could that aluminum foil be used for? It’s nice to have those different colors—I will keep it in mind—but I just cannot understand how it would be used in hair coloring, and different colors.
Oh, wait. Do you think that they put one color on one bunch of hair and another color on other bunches. And wrap the foil around a bunch. The color of foil would tell you what color you made that bunch of hair so you wouldn’t put all the same color of highlights in one spot or something? Like color-coding each highlighted bunch of hair? I really don’t know.
i can believe different colors to sort different hair things. i can also believe that some of us just happen to like color. why stained glass windows when clear windows will do? see?
I looked into foil highlighting. Boy, is it complicated. I didn’t find anything about using colored foil to code different bunches of hair, so maybe it is just a fun thing. I do see why color would be used for a permanent thing, like stained glass windows . It’s just that for hair highlighting the foil gets thrown out, so it didn’t seem like anyone would care. Sort of like I don’t really care what color my kleenex is, I guess. But to each his own!
