How long should...

… a well-made and well-cared-for bamboo flute last? The only weak spot which I can think of would be the membrane(?) between joints which forms the stopper for the mouthpiece. I suppose that it might rot out after a time, but I haven’t had any experience with this kind of flute. I would like to try one, since I’m playing one loaned to me by my teacher, and I love the sound (smells delicious, too!)

I would of course except flutes that have been abused :frowning: or not cared for correctly. What has been other peoples’ experience?

Thanks in advance to all who reply.

With best regards,
Steve Mack

Indefinitely. I’ve had bamboo flutes, good ones, last 30 years
and still be going strong. Your mileage may vary.

Ditto, it will last as long as you let it.
