How long has these Whistlemakers been making whistles?

I thought it would be interesting how long Copeland, Burke, Schultz, Sindt, Abell, Rose and any other top Whistlesmith has been making whistles. It’d be great to know how many whistles they’ve made too. I know Copeland numbers his whistles and he’s in the 2,000 range (that’s impressive) I know Burke makes bigger batches than Copeland, but I don’t know his production to date. (sorry if I left anybody out of the Whistlesmith’s I’ve mentioned, my memory is so bad-no offence intended)

Let me email these guys and see if I can get definitive answers for you.

I know that Ralph Sweet is over 11,000 now. I don’t know if that includes flutes/walking sticks/fifes, though.

I don’t have a definitive answer at all but re: Copeland AFAIK the numbering is a fairly recent thing (last few years). I got my first (and best) Copeland in the spring of 1991. No number. No half-uncial letters for the logo. I’m pretty sure that I had my Abell at least a year before that (#51).

11,000 whistles WOW!

I have a Thin Weasel which dates ( I think) from the early 80’s. I showed it to Glenn a while back and he said " Dang! That IS an old one!" He’s made skillions of them since then.

I haven’t been making long - just since about August, 2002. So far my numbers stand at around 150 sold, and 30 either sent out for review or given away in raffles, etc. I don’t serialize. I could go to PayPal and get an accounting, but I think 150 is about right. I’m not profitable yet, and probably won’t be for another year, until all the machinery and materials are paid for.
