Obviously you’re willing to sacrifice to head overseas.

I think you should also freelance and write sales copy for a car dealer. The descriptions of the car and its condition are detailed and entertaining (“If you’re a nice parent and thinking of spoiling your teenager rotten, this car is also perfect for you”) :slight_smile:

If I get a divorce, then I won’t have to worry about getting money for my trip to Ireland. Since I probably won’t, I’ll have to put it off for another year. :sniffle:

Sorry, I know this is probably a sincere desire so the only thing I have to offer is that a friend of mine just got back from 3 months+ in Ireland by taking a one term teaching position at Cork University. He found the job on a bulletin board at work. If you have teaching credentials you might want to check out the bulletin boards at colleges near you.

I’m afraid because I know I wouldn’t fit in at all. I should just take fatveg with me, I guess. I do plan to go one day.

Me too. I’m not afraid of the place as much as I’m afraid of the people. I’m afraid of most people, actually. I imagine Irish people much as West Virginia people. Very condescending, judgemental, conservative, close-minded, bigoted and mabey tolerant, but not accepting, there’s a huge difference. I imagine everybody’s that way, so I know it’s probably just me. Or mabey not.

Sounds good, although you’ll be drinking some kind of Stout, and I’ll be pounding Pepsi, but rest assured the results will be the same. Besides, from what I’ve heard, most of the drinking will be done by Ava :wink: Just kidding! I just hope she sobers up enough to find me and oven so I can make some strudel.

I don’t know 'bout the rest of you guys, but I’ve never heard a bad thing about the people in Ireland. I live in Brighton, MA and I’ve got more Irish firends at this point than American ones. I can’t go anywhere without rinning into some nice Irish fella right off the boat (or plane). If someone wants to come up here and practice being with the natives before taking on the natives in their native environment, give me a holler.
