how far is ashville to boone?

anybody know about how long it will take me to drive from Asheville to Boone? thanks.

15 minutes

oh…yeah

Google
Maps

or

MapQuest.com

I’d guess, and this is strictly my guess, about an hour and a half to two hours. Those roads are mostly two lane and very mountainous.

I know it’s an hour or therebouts on I40 to Marion then turn north or are you doing the Blue Ridge Parkway?

Eitherway, you will not be bored.

Hours and hours if you stop to see even a few of the sights. (Boone is my old home town.)

Did you know that Cherish the Ladies will be in Boone on July 12?

Google Maps says about 2 hours. If you get behind someone riding
their brakes down the mountain and around curves, add another hour.

Yeah, avoid getting behind cars with Florida license plates…Oops

Sure looks like a pretty drive. I want to go back!!!

Actually, that is why I am going. I am visiting my parents up in Asheville this weekend, and going to see CTL up in Boone.

Yeah, avoid getting behind cars with Florida license plates…Oops lol

    Tell me about it!! Aren’t we called Floridiots up there?

Thanks everybody for the advice and directions.

Aren’t we called Floridiots up there?

Well… I’ve heard that said a time or two…

I spent a summer in Yancy County (Spruce Pine, Burnsville) and that part of the country is gorgeous.

It sure is. That’s where all my kin folks on my dad’s side of the family live.

When I read the title to this thread, my mind was saying…

surely that should be either “How NEAR is Ashville TO Boone” or “How FAR is Ashville FROM Boone”?

Then I was reminded how in American parlance all distances are measured in driving time, not miles, though in fairness in the first post Whistle did ask for a measurement in time.

I wonder if that will change when it can no longer be assumed the enquirer will be travelling on their own four wheels?

Do you mean Asheville?

Actually, I read it as an Internet-esque shortening
of “How far is it from Asheville to Boone”,
which is how I would’ve phrased it.

If that happens, then the question becomes moot, because no one will be going. Unlike the UK, where everything is within 15 minutes by foot, and the cars are the size of cupholders, public transport makes sense. In the Carolinas, it doesn’t.
