How do you pronounce "Cuil Aodha"?

I’m learning this slide on my new low F.

Can anyone provide a phonetic rendering of the correct pronunciation? A translation would be nice, too.

Cuil Aodha is a place in Ireland; Hammy Hamilton lives there.

I’m not sure how to pronounce it, though.

I think it’s pronounced ‘Cooley’-though I’m probably totally wrong!

My guess is something like “cill awdjuh”. I’m not that great at pronouncing Irish yet though.

Coolea would be the English version of the placename. Cool-ee-ah.

Oh yeah, slender dh. They always slip past me.

I’ve always heard it referred to as ‘COO-LAY’, where Sean O’Riada lived for his last years.

And I have heard it pronounced “cool AY-uh”.

In Canada it is easy to pronounce: Cool Eh!
