Hi! This might be a silly question, but i’ve been wondering how pipemakers(and others) give the bore it’s cone-like shape?
I don’t know about you, but it’s a mystery to me 
Briefly,it is straight bored, allowed to rest for 6 months, longer is probably better, maybe restraight bored again, then step bored, then reamed with from 1 to 3 tapered reamers. this is what I’ve gathered, but there are many variants and what really matters is the design, and perfection of the end product.
