How come there isn't a nude whistlers calendar?

Would seem to me playing accordian while nude could lead to a trip to the emercency room, or at least ensure no kids in your future

Harder to play that way!

I’d need a set of uilleann pipes to cover my modesty…

Hmm I do have that big Bass Bb… That should do the trick… I think I would have to get back into my Varsity Hockey shape before I got naked infront of anyone besides my Doctor. I’m Pretty sure noone on the would want to see my Scotts-Irish/English/German/Bohemian butt anyway :boggle: … Besides everyone here knows that the camera lense would crack as soon as the reflection of my face touched it

And how could any of us forget “And this one time in bandcamp…” :astonished:

Maybe its just me and I havent seen as many of the super good looking whistlers as some of you have… It perfectly fine with me if you lot keep your clothes on. On the other hand if Martin Acheived an even more priceless silly & bulge eyed look on his face… it might be worth the calender price if only to see the new improved look on his face…

Okay, no more joking around. This one is really a photo of a nude whistler and not a drawing of a nude by Whistler:

I’ll volunteer to pose for the calendar as well. If you guys think there would be any interest in a skinny, pasty-complected, hirsute middle-aged guy, just let me know. February is the shortest month.

I took down the link to the photo of the nude whistle player. Some folks found it offensive, as she was playing from sheet music. For the record, that was not my wife - I would NEVER let my wife be photographed using sheet music to play the whistle!

I, of course, do not advocate nude whistling, and what not. But, as I recall, Dale had a photo of a naked guy on the beach playing a whistle, in a past issue of the Newsletter.

Waldski:

Is that origami? And did you make it?

Jim

I’m sorry, Walden, but I do advocate what not–always have. About the calendar: I feel that the goal of a group of middle-aged whistle players (if past polls are to be believed) should be to make beautiful music, not frighten little children.
Susan

I always play my whistle nude. Can’t get a sound
out of it when it’s in its bag.

It is origami, and was folded by Rick Beech.
I really ought to fold my own St. George
origami, and get a digitized photo of it. Actually,
I recently did take photos of some of my origami
handiwork, and am having them developed as
digital images. We’ll see how they come out,
Monday, God willing.

Hey Folks,

I saw the nude accordian player calendar over the weekend at the Newfoundland and Labrador Folk Festival and it really is quite tasteful if a little disturbing. Some of the poses are pretty funny… especially when you know the guys in them! I’m not sure if there’s any online place to pick them up but if you contacted the St. John’s Folk Arts Council by phone or email they may be able to accomodate you

Cheers,

But, nude Acadian players?!? Don’t you think musicians ought to be clothed?

‘“Of course the really big joke is that, next year, we’ll do tin whistles,” O’Leary laughed.’

Maybe we could get Larry Flint to do the production of the calendar. Now there’s cachet for C&F T&A.

And it might divert him from visions of statesmanship.

I’d pose, but then I’d have to take out my teeth and kids would run away screaming! :astonished:

Overton’s making a bass G?! Awesome… I bet it sounds like a cross between a low tenor and a didgeridoo!

I also bet it’s HUGE, and my skinny little fingers could never attempt to cover the holes.

Yes, we bought a handfull of them for friends. Great calendars – not only shirtless accordion players with their instruments, but also many useful bits of accordion lore and important St John’s Folk Arts dates.

I’ve never seen so many box players in one place. I think we played tunes with at least five of the people in the calendar (thankfully all with their shirts on when we met them) and about four more who weren’t on it…
