How can I transfer a audio file from one format to another?

I have a audio file I created a long time ago in wma (windows media audio) and I need to change it to wav or mp3. The software it was created in doesn’t give me a choice in what format to save it in so I can’t go back and resave in another format. Other software that I have does not recognize wma ao I can’t load it in that to save to a new format. If I rename the wma file with a different extension it corrupts the file. Its impossible to rerecord the file because it was done by people who are no longer available for a new session, and its those people who made the recording great in the first place. Anybody have a workaround solution?

Haven’t tried this but Switch a free app is supposed to do the conversion.
You get it here: http://nch.com.au/switch/

Yeah, I use “Switch” and it takes about 20 seconds to convert one format to another one since I open the program till the new file is created. Great program!

You can also use the free ad-supported online Media-Convert. Just upload your wma file and download the converted wav or mp3 (or other format) after a few minutes. Works very well. Great if you don’t want to install a converter for just occasional use.
