Yet another reason I prefer bellows-blown to mouth blown bagpipes…
I would avoid doing a lot of reed adjustments early on. I can speak from experience that you will want to blame the reed for your inability to obtain certain notes, stay in tune… etc… The unfortunate reality is that the reed is fine. If you do adjust it, be sure to give it a day or so settle in.
