Hiya, Walden told me Hoover lowDs have a chiffy sound with little breath requierments, does anyone else have any experience with Hoovers?
There are so many lowDs out there…
Best, Amar.
In case anyone’s interested in Hoovers, I found quite a good review, here: http://www.malware.org/hoover_detail.htm
I own a Hoover low D. It is a non-tunable whistle made of aluminum, with a Corian fipple plug. You are correct, Amar…The whistle has a bit of chiff, especially in the lower octave. My personal instrument does not have particularly low breath requirements, but any healthy person could handle it with no problems. It does not give me a booming low end, but is particularly well balanced over its entire range. As with the rest of my Hoover set, it is well in tune, well made, and a pleasure to play.
Cheers.

It does have chiff and pretty good volume. The downside for me was the size of the fingerholes. They’re huge, so even with piper grip I found it hard to seal the holes consistently at speed.
