Not that anyone probably missed me, LOL, but I missed you guys!
I have a new child!!! A three year old boy, whose grandfather asked us to please take him into our family since his daughter, the boy’s mother was obviously not going to get her act together. It’s a challenge, mind you, and it certainly puts the whistle on the shelf for a while, but it is also wonderful to see this little guy coming to trust that he will be in the same place everyday, the same people will be there, he will be safe, fed and loved… what a gift! even if it does come with thornes. LOL!
Bless the DFS people - they deal with stuff day in and day out.. it’s a wonder they have any sanity to work with, and that they are not throwing up their hands in defeat!
So! I’m back! Now, if Santa would just bring me that low D whistle I’ve asked for…
(I can spell whilstel, I can spell whitsel, I can spell whistle!) I’d better ask Santa for a new keyboard too!
Annie–
Congratulations on the addition to your family! And good on you for taking him in and giving him the love and stability he needs! I’m impressed. I was adopted myself (although as an infant, not a 3-year-old), so I really have to hand it to those who open their hearts, homes, and lives to a child.
Welcome back! And congratulations on your newest family member… what a beautiful thing to open your heart and home like that. I’m sure you will bring each other a lot of love and laughter!!
Three years old and a new, stable, warm, home. Double care, double trouble, but the best roses don’t come without them thorns… And he who takes no true challenge gets no true reward.
I wish you and Stevie, from the deep of my heart, the best ever Christmas season. Somehow I suspect you got a head start on that wish!
Time to depart for the session, and pick up bones or beater–feeling a bit of a softie lately…
Here in the north I get called Steve a lot. Never happened growing up in the south, but up here I can say “Hi, my name’s Steven,” and people will reply “Oh, hi Steve.” I gave up fighting it, because it happens way too much.
There is only one person in this world who can get away with calling me Stevie, and that’s my grandmother.
And I have to agree with you about Stephen. I never did figure out how people decided that had a “v” sound in it.
But Steven is a quality name. It means “king.” Can’t go wrong with that!!
He will be, in the long run, but for now we need to make a break between the life he has lead and his life now - the subtle variation will last until he is ready to be “Just ‘Steve’, Mom”.. or whatever… LOL.
Interesting that “King” thing… my name, Sarah, means “Queen”… I think I’ll keep the crown for now (especially since DH ruined my horned helmet! LOL!)
Well… I’ve had my eye on a Serpent, but Santa’s wallet’s stretched a little thin, LOL… I can dream though, LOL!.. Hey! If I ask for a set of good num-chuks, maybe he’d bring me two Serpents and a nice strong bracelet to tie them together with - double duty, and it might seem like half the outlay? hmmmmm… ( Oh-oh… does this type of scheming (how do you spell that?) get me put on the naughty list… oh bother!)
