Anyone play a set made exclusivly out of Holly? (Stock, Drones, Regs and Chanter)
How does the sound compare to say Box wood or a Blackwood set?

ebony is that bit better, being a bit cleaner~crisper tone, but holy sounds very nice, Leburnum is better still. over and out.
Holy chanters are usually played in church.

I’ve got a Davy Stephenson holly chanter practice set.
The chanter appears well made,fairly forgiving- intonation wise-for a beginner like me,with less than perfect bag control (o.k.,yeah I know that’s also down to the reed too).
I’ve read several times that Holly produces mellow sounding drones.
Hopefully,the name D*** St******** doesn’t invoke the Trolls!
