I can just about hit E two octaves above bottom E. I would like to get F# and G too. Any advice on how to get these piercing tones? Which whistles are best for ease of hitting the high spots. I am assuming a standard D whistle.

D whistle fingering for 3rd octave:
F# = XOXXOO
G = XOXOOO
And just in case ![]()
A = OXXXXO
And blow very hard ![]()

Get a book on fifing. They have all the fingerings you could want.
Here’s a good chart:

I can get up to G on most Burkes and Weasels. You might want to consider hearing protection if you’re planning on toing much up in that range. ![]()
With the aid of Syaku8.exe and a pair of good quality earplugs herewith the result of my researches on the third octave using a Rose whistle. BTW the earplugs cut out the tones you don’t want to hear as well as making the exercise bearable! Syaku8.exe is pretty amazing - you need a sound card and a microphone.
Db XXXXOO
D XXXXOX
Eb XXXOXO
F# XXXXOX
G XOXXOO
a,Bb OXXXXO
The F# is too sharp but the others are pretty close.

OK, so where would one find this amazing program you are using?
Google will find it. Anyway its the first item at:

Amazing free program, yes? One of its many delights: play a tune and it will give you a record of how much each of your notes was off!
